Storm Water Awareness Week: All About the Black River

Storm Water Awareness Week kicks off with a collaborative program by the Cavendish Historical Society, Black River Action Team (BRAT) and Dartmouth’s Rural River Project.

WHEN: September 20 (Sunday); 2pm

WHERE: Meet at the Cavendish Historical Society Museum, 1958 Main Street (route 131), in Cavendish. We will carpool to Greven Field. NOTE: In the event of heavy rain, the program will take place at the Museum

PROGRAM: The Cavendish Historical Society will be discussing the history of the Black River, including the impact of Mills and how the towns grew up around it. BRAT will provide an overview of the River itself, flood plains, life within the river and efforts being made to reduce flooding risks. Dr. Charis Boke will lead a medicinal plant walk in Greven Field.
